This week, the PGA Tour returns to The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland for the Genesis Scottish Open.
Robert MacIntyre looks to defend his 2024 title in his home open against a deep field that includes each of the top 5 players in the world.
After finishing 2nd behind Rory McIlroy in 2023, MacIntyre dramatically sank a 22 foot putt for birdie on the final hole to edge Adam Scott in last season’s event, He became the first Scot to win the tournament in 25 years.
The Renaissance Club, a par 70 course, measuring 7,282 yards, features a mix of long and short holes with challenging bunkers and undulating greens.
Specifically, it has 10 Par 4s, 5 Par 3s & 3 Par 5s with a unique layout compared to most Par 70 courses on the PGA Tour.
The Par 4s:
7 of the 10 par 4s are longer than 445 yards with 5 reaching at least 480 yards with players often hitting long but bouncing the ball up the fairways is key.
Par 3s:
While some Par 3s are shorter (like the 204 yard 12th & 203 yard 17th) others are longer, requiring longer iron shots.
Par 5s:
2 of the 3 Par 5s are close to 600 yards, and the shortest is still 576 yards.
Notable Holes:
The par 3 15th, playing along the coastline, is a signature hole offering scenic views and a tough test.
Weather Impact:
Weather conditions, particularly strong wind can significantly affect play, favouring either shorter hitters with strong short game or powerful ball-strikers. Past Winners have had higher than 73% Greens in Regulation.
At the time of typing the wind is @ 15 mph @ 04:30am.
The Renaissance Club is a traditional links setup with Fescue greens and firm fairways that require intelligent decision-making & allow players to use a variety of shots on approach.
Winners have provided a simple formula in staying within fairways and taking advantage of the large greens, The Best Putters are advantaged but it will be those players that play a smart long game.
Past winners have come as far back as 8 shots on Day 2 to claim victory.
This week we have provided 7 Players with a mix of skills & the betting strategy is $1 on each Player for the Outright Win along with $1 for that same player to Top 10 and another $1 invested on the player to Top 20.
The strategy allows for safer lower risk betting in that, At the very worse case scenario if our player can only manage a Top 20 result the $1 invested will generally cover the whole outlay.
For each Player @ each event we allow $3 in total & for 7 players the suggested investment is $210 in total if you would normally invest $10 per Player.
If you would normally stake $5 the outlay for 4 days on 7 Players in ALL markets = $105.
If you would normally stake our players @ $10 per player the 4 day outlay on 7 players in ALL markets = $210.
All prices quoted for Players are via BETFAIR exchange.
💥 PLEASE NOTE: pools are still relatively small being still 24 hours before TEE off, prices can & will change, I generally will have my plays matched very well into the Late evening, I find it easier, that is me personally the night before Day 1 commences.
