Event Analysis

This is the 2nd event being staged this weekend  & we will be going to Louisville, Kentucky, and it could easily be WON by an outsider with the visiting DPWT players all lining up to win whilst the better players are absent.

What does the Hurstbourne Country Club offer?

Chic Adams originally laid out the Championship course at Hurstbourne Country Club in 1967 but Keith Foster substantially renovated it in 2005 when he retained most of the routing but upgraded the bunkers.

Stately Lyndon Hall, built in the early 19th century and remodelled in 1928, now operates as the rather grand clubhouse at the heart of Hurstbourne Country Club. The estate, which was purchased by the Highbaugh family in 1949 and had its name changed to Highbaugh Farms, was developed as a country club in the late 1960s, with a 27-hole course designed by Chick Adams.

Nowadays, the main 18-hole layout extends to just over 7,000 yards from the back markers, playing to a par of 72. Notable holes include the toughest on the card at the 482-yard 2nd, with a pond in front of the tee box and another pond situated halfway along the fairway. The round ends rather unusually with a par three that plays across a little valley to a raised home green that’s circled by sand.

 Par 70, 7,056 yards

Hurstbourne is a short tree lined parkland course.

The Zoysia grass fairways are between 25 & 30 yards wide and the bluegrass- fescue rough is around four inches deep.

The Bentgrass greens are fairly small and water is in play on 6 holes so Approaching the Green will be vital to figure @ Cit off time on Day 3.

This event this week we have provided 8 Players with a mix of skills & the betting strategy is 1 unit on each Player for the Outright Win along with 1 unit for that same player to Top 10 and another 1 unit invested on the player to Top 20.

The strategy allows for safer lower risk betting in that, if our player can only manage a Top 20 result the 1 unit invested will generally cover the whole outlay.

I chose a few roughies for the ISCO as yes it would be nice to WIN with one of them but I consider those players a greater probability too.

All prices quoted for Players are via BETFAIR exchange.

💥 PLEASE NOTE: pools are still relatively small being still 24 hours before TEE off, prices can & will change, I generally will have my plays matched very well into the late evening, I find it easier, that is me personally the night before Day 1 commences.

STAKING: At PGT, we apply a strict and consistent staking strategy to every tip we publish. All published results on our site are calculated on the basis of one (1) unit per tip, unless otherwise stated. The actual dollar value of a unit (if any) is determined by each individual — it may be for a no-value bet with a friend, or $5 or $50. This methodology is for record-keeping and educational purposes only and is not a recommendation to bet or to bet in any particular way.

Mark Hubbard Win 32-1 1.00 LOSS

PEAKING AT THE RIGHT TIME:

PGA ISCO Championships
Hurstbourne Golf Club
Louisville, Kentucky USA
Thursday 10th July to 13th July, 2025.

The key to this event is to get as many players into Day 3 to make the CUT after 36 holes.

If you are baffled by the name it was formerly known as the BARBASOL Championships.

When the better PGA players disperse players like HUBBARD usually do make it a habit to earn more than any other time of the year, HUBBARD last week finished T33 with his -10 but what I do like is he was consistent each day with 70, 67, 69 & 68 & if you have been with me for years then you know I would prefer a player consistency carding a -3 or -4 each day that highs & lows.

HUBBARD was a strong 22nd in SG: PUTTING last week and if he can improve his GIR % then he can pick up 2 strokes on the field on Avg each round, The target will be smaller this week so the stronger putters should be advantaged.

In fact HUBBARD sat Top 30 in most significant SG stats last week, he was also T13 @ ROCKET Classic and even a better T5 @ CJ BYRON Nelson & T7 @ Myrtle Beach a repeat of that sees him fighting out the finish on Day 4.

We had 3 x Players in T5 only 2 shots off the Playoff picture @ JOHN DEERE last week, It is not unusual to have 4 or 5 of our 7 in the Top 20. The more the merrier.

$1 Win will see a possible return of $34 via Betfair.
$1 Top 10 @ $4.20
$1 Top 20 @ $2.70

Top 10 4.2-1 1.00 LOSS
Top 20 2.6-1 1.00 LOSS
Cameron Champ Win 32-1 1.00 LOSS

CAN REPEAT THE DOSE:

Champ we were on at big odds when he finished T9 @ RBC CANADA Open where he actually played much better than I expected despite tipping him, he strength is his Long Drives but around the Greens he was excellent.

He came out guns a blazing on Day 1 to card a 62 in Canada.

CHAMP is no star but he has already Won 3 x PGA and again he is a Player that shines when the majority of the Top 10 in OWGR are absent, to be fair he has achieved 3 x 1sts on this Tour which many in this field will struggle to Win 1.

He is already well ahead of the curve this weekend.

4 of his last 5 events he has carded -15, -14, -17 & -12, that sort of good form sees him contending again.

T2G last week (Tee to Green) a strong 4th overall along which has never been his negative, he even was 8th in GIR with for him an outstanding 79% Greens Hit. Crazy for him.

He made the most of Birdie Opportunities with 17 over the 72 holes (39th),

It is best chance this week and next week @ to pick up valuable Fed Ex Points to qualify for entry into 2026.

$1 Win will see a possible return of $38 via Betfair.
$1 Top 10 @ $5
$1 Top 20 @ $3

CHAMP is on a very slight drift he opened $34 now out to $38.

Top 10 5-1 1.00 LOSS
Top 20 3.1-1 1.00 WIN
Kazuma Kobori Win 85-1 1.00 LOSS

YOUNG 🔫 ON THE RISE:

SIMPLY put this young KIWI was electric last week against the best DPWT players @ The BMW
International Open in Germany.

On day 4 he scorched with a -11 but ended up with -9 from (9 x Birdies, 1 x Eagle with 2 x Bogeys) to finish outright 3rd @ -18.

HE WAS ON my radar after a -6 @ The ITALIAN Open + -5 @ The SOUDAL open, he is on the up and I had him along with ELVIS SMYLIE ( been pretty poor of late) but most of you would remember his Mum, Liz Smylie ? The other Aussie I have been following is David Michluzzi.

So we are getting a haircut price wise on young KAZUMA but gee if he turns up like last week it is lights out. He is a very high 2nd in DRIVING ACCURACY amongst all DPWT players with a high 73% of Fairways hit, The DPWT Avg is only 61%.

$1 Win will see a possible return of $90 via Betfair.
$1 Top 10 @ $8.20
$1 Top 20 @ $5

Top 10 9-1 1.00 LOSS
Top 20 5-1 1.00 LOSS
Casey Jarvis Win 250-1 1.00 LOSS

HAS 2 START WELL 🤞:

This young SAR player has long been in my Top 50 players in Europe.

Often he starts between $50 to $100 in the bigger DPWT events so to see him at what I consider as overs here is pleasing.

He does often UNDER WHELM at times but many of you know how I rate KEITA NAKAJIMA and I have seen Jarvis go as low as he can, CJ just needs to start well as he really is a player who thrives on confidence.

In other words if he Bogeys the front 9 here then he will TAP OUT, he had some very good results through 2024 and a few Top 20 results in the back end of 2024, he has not shone too brightly other than a T21 @ BAHRAIN with a -9 + T32 @ NTT DATA Pro AM with a -10, that event had already 6 winners the DPWT so it was a good effort.

So the form was good through February, Ive watched a few rounds here and there and he just gets stuck in his head too long.

IMO he is better than 50% of PGA players in this line up yet to win so if he decides to turn up he can figure.

$1 Win will see a possible return of $250 via Betfair.
$1 Top 10 @ $18
$1 Top 20 @ $9

Top 10 19-1 1.00 LOSS
Top 20 8.6-1 1.00 LOSS
Andrea Pavan Win 280-1 1.00 LOSS

OVERDUE 👊:

To be blunt & totally transparent I had given up following PAVAN as he can have some incredible days to only fluff a hole or 2 and it all goes AWRY.

I mean this Italian is more experienced than most, He has already had 2 x 1sts on the DPWT but even last week despite me NOT being on I still found myself frustrated for him as he went
73, 65, 73, 68 so the Day 2 & Day 4 scores good and he finished with a -9 but still 9 shots off KAZUMA.

That is the story of PAVAN, I was following him religiously as he is very good on APG
(Approach the Greens) he is 18th on DPWT so he can pick up Strokes against a field that is nowhere near as deep or strong than at his usual events.

No doubt we will see a Topsy Turvy effort as his best efforts are good enough we just need 4 days of focus.

MUCH HIGHER Probability to Top 20 is my view.

$1 Win will see a possible return of $290 via Betfair.
$1 Top 10 @ $12
$1 Top 20 @ $8

Top 10 15.5-1 1.00 LOSS
Top 20 7.2-1 1.00 LOSS
Rafa Cabrera Bello Win 200-1 1.00 LOSS

Selection: Rafa Cabrera Bello Win
Comment (Short): Veteran is good enough ⚡
Comment (Long):
I backed RAFA last week for Top 20 and he ended up finishing 26th (of course).

In this line up though the VETERAN has earnt extra props as he has WON 6 X dating back to 2006 and more recently in 2017 (SCOTTISH Open mind you) & 2021.

His most recent finish was a 3rd in 2 separate WGCs, 4th in an Open Championship and a Players Championship and inside the Top 3 at stops like Bay Hill and the CJ Cup.

I call him a VETERAN but he is still only 41 years young and has been in more dog fights than most this week. Again I must highlight this is a lesser field depth wise that what some of these higher ranking DPWT players are used to week in week out.

They can shine here.

Above I made mention of PAVAN being more likely to Top 20 this Spaniard however could Win this if he stays in the hunt.

RAFA is more consistent over longer which could be a key factor, grind it out.

$1 Win will see a possible return of $340 via Betfair.

Top 10 24-1 1.00 LOSS
Top 20 10-1 1.00 LOSS
Scott Piercy Win 410-1 1.00 LOSS

HISTORY THROW BACK:

A winner of this event way back in 2015, the now & I am a true believer of horses for courses and sure it has been 10 years passed but if you pay attention to early leader boards SCOTT PIERCY does appear high up before he usually fades.

In some of his more recent events his Day 1 card has seen him with 65, 64, 65, 66, 67 so as long as he starts with them and makes the CUT this 46 yr old may hand with the young guns.

I tipped MATT KUCHAR last week @ $ & he gave it a good nudge when 5th, the veterans like GRILLO can bob up in these lesser events ( proven they do).

As you can see I have stuck with a few veterans to grind it out at this event.

In regards to prices there has been some volatility over on Betfair with more $$$ injected, you have to take into account each event takes me many hours to type up along with cross ref for stats so by the time I start to finish much changes.

We do keep all our bet transactions via Betfair.

$1 Win will see a possible return of $320 via Betfair.
$1 Top 10 @ $15
$1 Top 20 @ $9

Top 10 22-1 1.00 LOSS
Top 20 8.6-1 1.00 WIN
Kevin Kisner Win 830-1 1.00 LOSS

GO THE ROUGHIE 💵🍀:

KISNER is only 41 yrs of age yet it seems like he has been around forever and more.

Like PIERCY both have 4 x 1sts on PGA Tour but KISNER has played in 335 PGA events and has
46 x Top 10s (just under 14% SR) again to highlight more than 50% of this line up have NO Top 10s in the tough PGA circuit.

As some may think we JAG big prices, we did Tip SEPP STRAKA @ $1000 & again later @ $700 when he finished 2nd & 5th before his now famous 2025 run. We like to find value
& I now watch most days of each GOLF event live as it all unfolds on Day 4.

Like watching races you see some Players improving each week yet get no recognition, like Black Bookers Racing codes.

YES KISNER is along shot but he has also amassed $29 Million in Prizemoney and has made
62% of all CUTS in his PGA career, I would prefer a veteran usually over a NON winner a some players just cannot win a PGA event no matter how hard they try ( Step Up to the Plate TOMMY FLEETWOOD).

$1 Win will see a possible return of $960 via Betfair.
$1 Top 10 @ $40
$1 Top 20 @ $17
